PASINAYA: CCP'S ULTIMATE OPEN HOUSE FESTIVAL

Image
Every year, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) comes alive with vibrant performances, workshops, and exhibitions during its much-anticipated  Pasinaya Open House Festival . Known as the largest multi-arts festival in the Philippines, Pasinaya is a celebration of creativity, diversity, and Filipino culture, drawing thousands of visitors to experience the arts in all its forms. This year, Pasinaya returns from  February 1 & 2 , bringing an eclectic mix of music, dance, theater, literature, visual arts, and film. The events will take place across multiple venues, including the CCP grounds and partner institutions. True to its mission of inclusivity, Pasinaya operates on a pay-what-you-can basis, inviting everyone to enjoy the richness of Filipino artistry. A Mentalist’s Grateful Return For several years, I’ve had the privilege of performing at Pasinaya, showcasing my unique art of mind reading. Each time I take the stage, I’m reminded of how special this fest...

RELIGION AND MENTALISM: BRIDGING MISUNDERSTANDINGS

Image
The Philippines is one of the most predominantly Christian countries in the world, with the majority of its population identifying as Catholic. Growing up here, I was deeply immersed in this faith. I was raised in a Catholic family, educated in Catholic schools, and have been surrounded by devout Catholics my entire life. Faith has always been a constant presence in my environment. which is why it’s particularly disheartening when some people see what I do as a mentalist and label it as "evil." The Misconceptions About Mentalism Throughout my career, I’ve encountered individuals who misinterpret mentalism as something sinister. Some leave Bible verses in my comment sections, while others openly criticize, believing that mentalism is rooted in supernatural or malevolent forces. One particular instance stands out: I was invited to speak at an event, but one of the other speakers backed out because he, as a Christian, did not want to share the stage with me. Situations like th...

EVENTS WITH ORGANIZERS VS. EVENTS WITHOUT ORGANIZERS

THE CHAOS OF NO EVENT ORGANIZERS: A PERFORMER'S EXPERIENCE Corporate events are meant to be polished, professional, and memorable. As someone who has performed at countless corporate gatherings over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how the presence (or absence) of an events organizer can make or break an occasion. I recently had the misfortune of being part of an event that didn’t hire an events organizer, and let me tell you, it was an unforgettable experience, but for all the wrong reasons. The event started on the wrong foot even before I arrived. The organizing committee called me frantically on the day of the event, mistaking me for one of the caterers! Imagine their shock when I explained that I was the mentalist they had booked. It became painfully clear that they had no idea who their suppliers were or even what services they had hired. When I arrived, things only got worse. The event started much later than scheduled because the program wasn’t finalized. People were runnin...

HOW A MENTALIST PREPARES FOR A NEW YEAR: MASTERING MINDSETS

Image
As a mentalist, stepping into a new year is more than just setting goals. It’s about aligning the mind, body, and spirit to create a year of purpose and growth. Here's how I prepare for a fresh start, not just as a mentalist, but as someone deeply invested in mastering the power of mindset. 1. Reflection: Learning from the Past Before moving forward, I take time to look back. Reflection isn't about dwelling on mistakes; it's about understanding what worked, what didn't, and why. Ask Yourself: What were my wins this year? What lessons did I gain from challenges? Mentalist Mindset: Every experience is a step in the right direction, even if it felt like a stumble. 2. Setting Intentions, Not Just Goals Goals are great, but intentions are the fuel behind them. While goals are specific and measurable, intentions focus on the why. Example: Instead of “I want to book more shows,” my intention might be, “I want to create unforgettable moments for my audience.” Mentalist Mindse...
